GSA's Annual Scientific Meeting

The Society convenes an Annual Scientific Meeting, which showcases the latest advancements in gerontological research. This event attracts over 3,500 professionals, and the program consists of more than 500 peer-reviewed scientific sessions featuring research presented for the first time. The GSA 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting will be held in Phoenix from November 10-14, 2021.

The Call for Abstracts for the GSA 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting will be open Febuary 1 - March 11, 2021.

GSA is committed to ensuring that all individuals whose abstracts are accepted for the Annual Scientific Meeting will have the opportunity to share their scholarship at the meeting.

New Expanded Meeting Format
Based on uncertainties regarding travel safety and large gatherings, GSA is adding an Online component to its in-person 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, November 10-14. This means that individuals who cannot travel will have the option to participate in the meeting and make their scholarship available to attendees using an Online Annual Scientific Meeting platform.

Abstract Submission Policies
In response to recent queries, we are providing further guidance regarding the abstract submission policy.

Materials previously published or presented at any professional meeting may not be submitted, except in cases of substantial elaboration (e.g., additional findings) from the initial report:

  • Substantial elaboration or additional findings from an initial report is defined as providing new knowledge and results that advance the understanding of the field and/or practice. Data/information regarding new interpretations of existing data may also be included in this category.
  • Submitting a new abstract containing the same hypotheses, data, findings, evidence, discussion points, and/or conclusions as a previously published paper or presentation at a professional meeting would not be considered a case of substantial elaboration.

We encourage everyone to visit the Call for Abstracts web page for additional details. Please review other important submission criteria and policies in the Abstract Submission Planning Guide. The abstract submission site is open through March 11.

Our highest priority is the health, safety, and well-being of our members, staff, vendors, and attendees of the GSA Annual Scientific Meeting. GSA will closely monitor the latest COVID-19 developments as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, the U.S. State Department, and local health authorities.

We will communicate any updates via email, the GSA website and GSA Connect (members only).

Thank you for submitting your scholarship and your ongoing support of GSA.
